Meanwhile, in Sweden, hometown hero Elias Ymer (27) is through to the next round with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Roberto Bautista-Agut (35).
Over in Tunisia, fifth seed Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (29) has lost her first round match against Nadia Podoroska (26) 6-3, 4-6, 5-7.
