20:30 CET - More Czech success in Abu Dhabi later today as Barbora Krejcikova (27) and Karolina Pliskova (30) both won in straight sets.
Bianca Andreescu (22) was not as fortunate, after getting beaten by Yulia Putintseva (28), 7-6, 6-2.
Meanwhile, on the ATP, action is under way in Cordoba, Argentina with home star Federico Coria (30) and Thiago Monteiro (28) going to a deciding set whilst Mackenzie McDonald (27), who notably beat Rafael Nadal at the Australian Open, has beaten another Spaniard Fernando Verdasco (39) in straight sets in Dallas.
17:07 CET - Meanwhile in Montpellier, Filip Krajinovic defeated Aslan Karatsev by 3-6, 7-6, 6-2.
A close battle of the locals also took place as Quentin Halys beat compatriot Clement Chidekh 7-5, 2-6, 7-5.
16:45 CET - Spaniards Paula Badosa and Garbine Muguruza have withdrawn due to illness from the Abu Dhabi Open which resulted in the cancellation of both their matches respectively against Liudmila Samsonova and Karolina Pliskova.
They both went on to win their matches against Claire Liu and Ysaline Bonaventure.
15:45 CET - A few more results to bring you from across the WTA. World number 14 Beatriz Haddad Maia (26) battled back from a set down in Abu Dhabi against Marie Bouzkova (24) to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Elswhere, there were wins for Marketa Vondrousova (23) and Rebeka Masarova (23) in Linz.
14:08 CET - A few early games around the circuit have finished already with the most notable result coming in Linz where Alison Van Uytvanck (28) beat young Czech star Linda Noskova (18), who had a great run in Adelaide to start her season, in straight sets.
Elsewhere, in Abu Dhabi, Qinwen Zheng (20) showed why she is one to watch this week with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Rebecca Marino (32).
