The last-16 ties have been completed and we're now left with the final eight teams of EURO 2024 as we look ahead to the quarter-finals that begin on Friday.

Interestingly, Germany haven't beaten Spain in tournament football since 1988, so Julian Nagelsmann will be desperate to put that right in front of an expectant home crowd.

14:54 CET - Germany legend Toni Kroos (34) has been speaking to the press ahead of his country's massive quarter-final clash with Spain on Friday. The Real Madrid man said he is looking forward to the possibility of ending his career in the most remarkable fashion by lifting the EURO 2024, but is also prepared for the potential of it ending abruptly.

"It would be a sensational end but I have also considered the possibility of it not happening. I am not nostalgic at all and did not bring any treats for you (journalists) either," he said.

"I do not expect tomorrow to be my last game so I assume we will see each other again."
