German basketball player Dennis Schröder (29) will play in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers, where he already played a year ago. The national team captain, who will compete for a bronze medal with the Germans at the European Championships in Berlin on Sunday, spent the previous year in Boston and since February in Houston.

"It's an honor to play for the Lakers. I can't wait to get started," Schröder wrote on Instagram during Eurobasket, where he is one of the stars of the tournament. But even his 30 points on Friday were not enough for the German team to advance to the final over Spain.

According to ESPN, Schröder agreed to a one-year contract with the Lakers with a salary of $2.64 million. The German point guard will also be reunited with LeBron James and new coach Darvin Ham, whom he knows from his previous stint in Atlanta.

At EuroBasket, the experienced point guard will lead the Germans to their first medal in 17 years on Sunday against Poland.
