The font used for names and numbers on the back of kits in the Premier League will be updated for next season.

As well as the back of the shirts, the league's sleeve patches will be given a fresh look too.

Avery Dennison, the designers behind the change, took to Twitter to share the news and provide some pictures.

The new font is around ten per cent larger than the one we see this season, which has been used since 2017.

The Premier League has changed the official font just three times, in fact, making the new one the fourth.

Though the update is minor, part of the league's zig-zag branding can now be seen as a gradient on the numbers.
