England and USA cancel each other out in goalless draw
22:00 CET: Well the match had it moments and both sides had their chances throughout but neither the USA nor England could break the deadlock this evening.
A draw is probably the fair result and it must be said that the USA were very impressive in parts, especiaily in the second half of the first 45 minutes. They went into the break with the momentum but then England came back to produce the better chances later on in the second half.
Tonight's draw means that Group B is quite finely poised going into the last round. England lead on four points followed by Iran on three, USA on two and Wales on one. England face Wales on Tuesday and the USA and Iran will meet at the same time.

Second Half
21:54 CET: That's all she wrote at the Al Bayt Stadium, the match finishes 0-0. Stay tuned for the full match stats analysis.
21:52 CET: One last chance for the USA now, they have a freekick in England territory... but nothing comes of it. Again, that feels like the story of the match.
21:51 CET: And Harry Kane very nearly wins it at the death. Luka Shaw whips in a freekick and Kane leaps to meet it with his head but his effort is just wide.
21:49 CET: Maguire heads it almost straight down and it bounces safely towards Turner. That's this match in a microcosm in a way. Especially for England - it just hasn't come off today... yet.
21:48 CET: There will be four minutes of added time in the match. England have a corner - can they make it count?
21:45 CET: Grealish tees up Rashford with a clever backheal but he shoots meekly into Turner's arms. It's beginning to feel like these two are happy with a draw.
21:40 CET: Weah and Wright depart for the USA. Sargent and Reyna are on in their places to add a little bit of energy to the attack. Can they create something?
21:38 CET: 10 mintues to go and it looks like we're heading towards a stalemate but that could change any moment!
21:35 CET: A few subs now. Rashford is on for Saka for England. Aaronson and Moore are on the USA - Dest and McKennie both off.
21:33 CET: England are still bossing possesion in the match - almost 60/40. But most of it has been quite passive. The fact that the USA have had twice as many goal attempts (10 to five) will worry the English fans. However, the Americans have defended well.
21:31 CET: It certainnly isn't the free flowing performance that we saw from England against Iran. Grealish has brought a different kind of threat into the side by coming on but it still looks as though England haven't clicked into gear yet.
21:28 CET: Grealish makes his first mazey run into danger but loses control of the ball. Only 20 minutes to go now. That's come quickly. The two teams still seem to be largely cancelling each other out, though. The game needs a goal to burst into life.
21:25 CET: And it will be a double change for England. Sterling and Bellingham are off, Grealish and Henderson are on. Sterling hasn't done much tonight so that's not a surpirse but Henderson is a strange one to see coming on now. Perhaps Southgate thinks they need to get hold of the midfield.
21:19 CET: An hour in now and it is the USA who are winning on points - you would say - but only just. England have looked less dangerous this second half, though, so expect a change soon by Southgate.
21:15 CET: One of the themes already tonight has been Weston McKennie finding space for the USA going forward. If you look at the USA's average positions for the first hour (below) you can see where he is finding it.
He (number eight pictured) is playing so high and wide on the right hand side, doubling up with Timothy Weah (number 21) in England's leftback zone. He is having some joy floating in betwen the English lines there. Can he make it count?
21:11 CET: Timothy Weah was caught babdly by Luke Shaw and that looked like it hurt. He seems ok but that really should have been a foul. Instead the ball is returned to England.
21:06 CET: First chance of the half comes to McKennie who has been quite a nuisance already. Wright's shot was defelcted out to him but he could not get his head over the ball and it sails high and wide.
21:03 CET: We are back underway. Neither team has made a change at halftime.
21:02 CET: The teams are re-emerging now for the second half.
21:00 CET: Looking at our Momentum map courtesy of Stats Perform, you can gain an appreciation for the narrative of this match so far. England applied more sustained pressure in the early stages of the match but since the 15th minute, it has been pretty much back and forth. The USA have shown themselves to be a competent opponent, quite an impressive first half from the young Americans. Can England step up into a higher gear in the second half or will the USA pounce on them early?
First Half
20:47 CET: And that will be halftime here at the Al Bayt Stadium. It was a pretty cagey start to the game but it started to open up a bit more towards the end. The USA have shown they can match this talented English side. Weston McKennie and Christian Pulisic are both causing problems. England have yet to get into their full creative stride so expect a change from Southgate if nothing happens soon, he has a stacked bench.
20:46 CET: A big chance there for Mason Mount who tries to find the bottom corner from range only for Turner to make a good low save.
20:46 CET: Just one minute to be added in this half that has been largely without stoppage.
20:45 CET: Luke Shaw drives into the box from England's left and cuts back for Saka, who just keeps popping up in dangerous places, but he shoots over.
20:42 CET: I dare say that the US have mustered up the better chances here so far. Another chance just now as Pulisic glances a header wide. After not having much of the early ball, the Americans look like the better team now.
20:41 CET: Sergino Dest slaloms through the English defence and into the box but his shot is deflected out for a corner. Dangerous moment there but the corner is dealt with.
20:36 CET: The ball was bouncing around the US box dangerously there for a while but it came to nothing. Matt Turner collected the ball and immediately released Pulisic was a long flat ball - look out for that today, they will try to utilise his pace on the counterattack.
20:32 CET: Christain Pulisic absolutely blasts a shot from just inside the area and it smashes Pickford's crossbar.
A quick stat check here - the USA have had the only shot on target so far and they lead total shots four to three. They are knocking on the door. Will it open?
20:29 CET: Take a look at our Live Win Probability below. There hasn't been much to separate these sides yet but England are still firm favourites to break this game open.
20:26 CET: Great chance for Team USA and Weston McKennie. The cross falls to him unmarked in the box but his side-foot shot flies over the bar. He really should have at least tested Jordan Pickford in goal.
20:19 CET: Neither side seem to be pressing much when the ball is being played along the defensive line. England is dominating possession but it's mostly without threat.
20:16 CET: First good chance for the US as Haji Wright heads Weston McKennie's near post ball out of play. That's the first quarter hour gone and there hasn't been much to cheer here but England have created a little more - three attempts to one.
20:14 CET: England craft another opening through Saka again who crosses the ball into a dangerous area but no one can meet it.
20:11 CET: The ball drops to Mason Mount after the corner but he blazes it high and wide.
20:10 CET: Huge chance for Harry Kane as Bukayo Saka squares it to him in the box but his shot is blocked out for a corner.
20:08 CET: It's been a very circumspect opening from both sides here as they feel each other out. England seem happy to tap it around and bide their time.
20:00 CET: England in all white kick off against the USA in their change strip of all blue.
19:58 CET: The teams are out and we are getting set for what promises to be an interesting match here at the Al Bayt Stadium. The referee is J. Valenzuela of Venezuela.
