Bayern Munich continued their perfect start to their Champions League campaign with a 5-0 win against Viktoria Plzen at the Allianz Arena, where Leroy Sane netted a brace.

Julian Nagelsmann’s men got back to winning ways in the Bundesliga by demolishing Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend, and picked up where they left off here by taking the lead inside seven minutes.

Sane combined with Jamal Musiala before driving at the defence and rifling an effort from outside the area into the top corner.

In the process, Sane joined Robert Lewandowski as the only Bayern player to score in the first three games of a group phase.

The Rekordmeister were slicing through the visitors’ defence at will and wasted no time doubling the lead.

A rapid transition from the German champions turned defence into attack, with Leon Goretzka picking the ball up and feeding Serge Gnabry to finish a very slick move.

Plzen had absolutely no answer and conceded once more as Sadio Mane benefitted from a deflection to blitz through the defence before firing in at the near post.

In truth, the three-goal margin flattered the visitors who had been truly picked apart by Bayern. Before the break, Musiala had a goal ruled out for offside, but a fourth would arrive shortly after the restart.

Gnabry lofted a gorgeous ball over the defence into Sane who produced a glorious first touch before slotting home his second of the night.

Despite a raft of substitutions as Bayern prepared to face Borussia Dortmund on the weekend, Die Roten did not abandon their desire for more goals and netted a fifth on the hour mark.

Goretzka was provider once more, slotting through Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting who netted for the first time this season.

A third visit to Munich in their history ended in a third five-goal defeat for Plzen, who look to be on their way out of the UCL after finding themselves in this year’s ‘group of death’.
