First game, first win. Gareth Bale (33) and Giorgio Chiellini (37) make their MLS debuts for the new Los Angeles FC. The European football personalities were instrumental in the Californian club's 2-1 win in Nashville on Sunday.

Gareth Bale, who will captain Wales in their first World Cup appearance in 58 years this autumn, played from the 71st minute. The former world's most expensive player left Real Madrid in June after nine years and on Sunday played club football for the first time since April.

Italy's Chiellini was in the starting line-up on his debut, unlike the Welsh international, and spent an hour on the pitch. The captain of last season's European champions left Juventus after 18 years with whom he won nine Serie A titles, among others.

Gareth Bale's new employer is currently basking at the very top of the entire MLS. Los Angeles FC also includes Mexican forward Carlos Vela (33), who also has many years of experience in Europe, where he played for Arsenal and Real Sociedad.
